Course Description:

This presentation explores the profound impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on architectural business processes. Participants will discover practical use cases that offer significant benefits with minimal disruption to current practices. The lecture will delve into how AI technologies are revolutionizing various aspects of architecture, including design, BIM modeling, rendering, feasibility studies, project site supervision, and client interactions. Through detailed use case examples, attendees will gain insights into how AI is streamlining workflows, fostering creativity and enhancing overall efficiency in architectural practices.

Learning Objectives:

1. Understand the Role of Language in AI-driven Architectural Workflows:

  • Explore how AI-powered language prompts can influence and potentially redefine architectural practices.
  • Discuss the implications of language-based design and its impact on formal architectural terminology and documentation.

2. Examine AI’s Influence on Concept Design and Feasibility Studies:

  • Analyze how AI tools enhance concept design iteration and improve feasibility study accuracy.

3. Explore AI’s Impact on Visualization and Rendering:

  • Understand how AI algorithms improve architectural visualization and rendering quality.
  • Discuss the role of AI in accelerating the rendering process and enhancing visual communication in architecture.

4. Discuss AI’s Role in BIM Modeling and Manipulating Point Cloud Data:

  • Explore how AI enhances Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows, including model creation, and analysis.
  • Analyze how AI tools facilitate the manipulation and interpretation of point cloud data for architectural purposes.

Presenter:

Victoria Ikede, BIM Coordinator at Architecture49| The BIMMentor on YT | C# Revit API Dev and Mini MBA

Victoria Ikede is a seasoned BIM Professional working in Architecture49’s Design Through Technology Initiative. With a strong background in Architecture and Building Information Management, coupled with over 11 years of industry experience, her drive for innovation and technology has propelled her to explore novel approaches in using AI to enhance design processes, optimize project management, and elevate client interactions within the profession.

At Architecture49, Victoria is exploring AI applications to optimize business processes and harness BIM data for predictive analytics on construction projects. Her focus is on implementing accessible workflows that challenge industry norms, while promoting technological inclusivity through AI adoption.

Her journey into Design Technology began at the University of Nigeria in 2009. She has since obtained Master’s Degrees with Distinction from prestigious institutions such as the University of Sheffield in England, Politecnico di Milano in Italy, and the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia, specializing in Architecture and BIM. She garnered a reputation for BIM Advocacy in West Africa, notably emerging as the youngest sole female BIM Manager, and Keynote speaker at the inaugural West Africa Digital Construction conference, disseminating insights into the revolutionary impacts of digital technologies on architecture and construction practices in the region.

An early adopter of AI, she was a pioneering member during the implementation of Dall-E for image generation in the tool’s beta testing phase. Additionally, she delivered a lecture on Machine Learning and its applications in Architectural Generative Design as far back as 2021.

As an educator, Victoria has led advanced postgraduate-level workshops at the University of Sheffield, a distinguished institution ranked among the world’s top 100 universities. In this capacity, she curated course content centered around Building Information Modeling, Virtual Reality Design, Computational Design, 3D Printing and Digital Fabrication. Highly proficient in Computational Design & Programming, she also educates on ‘THE BIM MENTOR’ YouTube channel with content curated especially for complete beginners to the subject.

A sought-after speaker on the intersection of AI and Architecture, Victoria has significantly contributed to the discourse on leveraging AI for architectural innovation. She brings a unique blend of technical expertise and creative vision to the discussion, inspiring architects, and industry professionals to embrace innovation and harness the power of AI for transformative outcomes in architecture.
