Chapter Update June 2021

Dear colleagues,

2020 was a year with many adventures, but 2021 is exciting too!

The AIA Canada Society is pleased to share the chapter’s main activities, as the chapter looks forward to transforming the daily practice of architecture to achieve a zero carbon, equitable, resilient and healthy built environment.

As part of the positioning effort, the Chapter will conduct a membership survey in June to understand the needs of its members. The survey will reflect as well the role of architects and architecture, and appreciation for the value of architects.

CHAPTER ACTIVITIES

  • AIA Canada is seeking to develop additional continuing education opportunities: The Chapter offered eight courses, totaling 8.5 credits. New opportunities will be announced soon.

  • AIA Canada Design Awards program: After a successful first year, the Chapter is looking forward to launching its second Design Awards program. Congratulations to the 2020 winners!

  • AIA Canada Conference: The Chapter plans to hold a one or two day conference in Fall 2021. However, as the pandemic is still here, as most organizations have done, we have moved the conference online.

  • AIA Canada AGM and the 2021 Elections: The chapter plans to hold a virtual event in the fall, seeking to change a few bylaws, and at the chapter leadership elections with a term starting in January 2022.

On behalf of the AIA Canada Society Board of Directors and volunteer team, thank you for contributing to the profession.

Truly yours,
