AIA Canada Team: Rommy Rodriguez.A.

Rommy Rodriguez.A. is an architecture-sector operations, communications and outreach professional with more than 25 years of experience in the not-for-profit design and architecture community, including 19 years working with architectural membership organizations.

Rommy supports the Society’s national operations and works closely with its Board and executive leadership across governance, membership, continuing education events and webinars, design awards, communications, partnerships and member engagement. She develops and coordinates member-facing communications, website and social media content, promotional campaigns and outreach initiatives, and oversees AIA Canada’s Journal of Record partnership with Canadian Architect magazine.

Rommy also represents AIA Canada within the broader AIA community, developing relationships with colleagues and architectural organizations across Canada and internationally. Her growing engagement with AIA International reflects a particular interest in strengthening connections, knowledge exchange and collaboration among architectural communities across regions.

Previously, Rommy spent 14 years as Associate Executive Director of the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) Technology Program (OAAAS), where her work encompassed organizational operations, governance, certification, membership, communications, marketing and professional outreach. She also founded and developed the organization’s annual Student Awards program and built relationships with architecture firms, colleges, students and industry organizations throughout Ontario.

Earlier in her career, as Outreach Coordinator with the Ontario Crafts Council, Rommy promoted Canadian craftspeople and designers through exhibitions, trade shows, public programming and design-industry outreach. This experience, together with her education in Crafts & Design at Sheridan College and Content & Digital Marketing at Toronto Metropolitan University, contributes to a professional perspective that bridges organizational leadership, communications, design and community-building.

Fluent in English and Spanish and connected professionally to both Canada and Latin America, Rommy brings a cross-cultural perspective to her work and a longstanding commitment to building strong professional communities around architecture and design.
