SUMMARY:AIA International Spring Conference - March 14-16\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Cost: FREE (for AIA members and Non-members) \nTotal CES: Estimated 20+ LU/ HSWs for AIA Members \nEvent Description\nThe construction industry is a significant emitter of greenhouse gases (GHGs)\, from the production of materials to the heating\, cooling and maintenance of existing buildings and infrastructure. To achieve emission reduction targets by 2050\, new low carbon technologies and tools are needed to support further advancements in the construction sector. \nNew solutions will support these requirements\, including lifecycle performance of buildings and infrastructure\, digitalization\, construction practices and materials. From a regulatory perspective\, there are multiple paths to achieve net zero. This provides an opportunity to advocate for careful system upgrades and modernization of existing facilities. It also elevates the importance of building reuse as part of climate action and as a residential solution. \nJoin us for a global discussion about how architects and others around the world are finding innovative ways to evolve the industry! \nThis 3-day virtual conference will bring you lectures\, panel discussions\, building tours and more from around the world. Conference sessions will be hosted by the 7 International Chapters in Canada\, Europe\, Hong Kong\, Japan\, the Middle East\, Shanghai\, and the United Kingdom\, the International Sections in Southeast Asia\, Taipei and South Korea\, and more of our members worldwide! \nAttendance is free and open to all\, whether you are an AIA member or not. Sessions will be available on demand following the conference day. AIA members can receive CES credits for participating live\, or for watching on demand. \nWe are excited to bring you speakers at the forefront of sustainability from various backgrounds. Keynotes will include Dr. Trevor Nightingale\, Associate Vice President of Engineering at the National Research Council Canada; David Lake\, FAIA and Ted Flato\, FAIA\, the 2024 AIA Gold Medal winners; and Illya Azaroff\, FAIA. \nRegistration is FREE! Sign up today. \nREGISTER HERE\nThis event is organized by AIA International and we reserve the right based on reasonable assessment of the circumstances to exclude individuals who display unprofessional or disruptive behaviour.
